Wild magic Is a collaborative project made with 20 students. We decided to make a top down survivors like game where you control a wizard, gain abilities and fight off hordes of enemies. My role in the project was as a game designer/tech designer. I worked on the base prototype for 4 spells, made the game-mode and worked on the tech document.
We all sat down as a team and started brainstorming on what we could create. Our other idea was to create a journey like game in space but we eventually settled on creating a wizard game. Luckily everyone was onboard with wizards and spells so we naturally gravitated to the survivors like wizard game.
As a designer I first started coming up with spell Ideas and how they interact with enemies. My role then gravitated towards creating some of the base spells in engine. Since this was a survivors like we needed to create spells that would be used automatically and spells that have a scope of improvement to be upgraded further.
My role after working on some of the spells would be to work on the TDD for the game. This project really got me working on my tech skills since my role in most projects have been game designer and level designer roles.
